    pickled eggs... we used to sell them

    10 cents each at our DGS..

    kept them in a gallon glass jar (next to the pickled pigs'
    feet
    on top of the meat case

    Used to "snitch" two or three a week... never did try the feet

  3. Don, That is one of Basho's that I had not seen before. I see what you mean.
    Bruce - thank you. How is that class going?
    Ed - thank you the first time I ever saw them up here as at the end of a bar with late sunlight behind them. Then I realized they were in the stores - and all of the bars seem to have a jar or two. Even one of our local liquor stores sells locally made ones. Spicey.

    Don, I liked that photo too.

  4. I'm talkin 1950's pickled eggs.

    folks wld come into the store buy a coupiple of those eggs, a can of sardines-in-hot sauce, an onion and a box of crackers and...

    off to work they'd go.... lunch in a brown paper bag
    maybe even stop at that liquor store near you and buy a pint of Ruby Foo

    actually, sounds good &
    much healthier than those peanut-butter and jelly sandwiches and sugar-water and a Twinkie that the kids take to school daily now.

    Ed, I've hunkered down in front of jars of pickled eggs, right next to the pigs knuckles, which went down smooth with that old school beer from the tap right behind those jars.
