Wow, powerful. I have a 24 year old. His beard still isn't rough. but I could sense it coming.
The image of the son's beard in Patrick's poem really hit me... and Tom, I know that road... two mighty fine poems.
Charles and Graham, that image is the one that arrests you both ... a fine job by Patrick, expanding the poem's horizon beyond its basic innate emotion.
And Graham, the road that is the way ...
