Chen-ou Liu: New Year

New Year
a dewdrop holding
the morning sun
Chen-ou Liu

This wonderful New Year's greeting arrived in my inbox yesterday from the poet Chen-ou Liu, who lives in Canada.  I asked his gracious permission to share it blog readers here and he was kind of enough to grant it.

if someone asks
answer: it's a dewdrop
OK?

Dear Chen-ou, I hope your double new years will be good to you and each passing day will leave a gift. Many thanks for your kind words...the haiku came from a juxtaposition of events on the day I wrote it... but the coming together of the event an Issa's dew drop haiku brought me peace and I thought it a good place to share it under your marvelous haiku. I enjoy your haiku often. Many thanks, Merrill
